Saturday 3/22 - Easter Eve at Veterans Skate Park
Spring is here and with it, the perfect Spring weather! This Easter Eve was ripe for a great session. The temps were in the mid-60's, and the sun was shining with no chance of rain. The word was spread, calls were made, emails exchanged...but in the end, it was only a small group of us "old guys" that showed up to enjoy the day at the park. Oddly enough, we all kind of showed up at the same time around 4....except Patrick who had been there since 2pm...and was not bashful about reminding us all of that over and over and OVER! haha Today, I was on a mission...get over my stupid hangup about frontside grinds. I do them, I have no problem with them, but for some reason, I hate them and am always apprehensive to do them again. I made a point to work on that. After my initial runs and getting all my "regular" tricks out of the way, I did nothing but lines consisting of frontside grinds in the shallow and frontside airs in the deep (working on getting those out too...stuck at coping for some reason). So for me, it was a bit of a "work day" but didn't feel like it. I was having a blast! The only disappointment I had was that Patrick didn't skate longer with us. As I said, he had been there skating since 2 pm (not to mention, for some dumb reason, Jason had told him that we all went to Montgomery without him). Other than that, the day was big fun! Eddings was entertaining as always. Spinosi has started working on rock and rolls...or should I say, his fear of trying them there. Jason was working his lines and grinds. Steven and Scott were working their street wizardy on the handrails. And we had several "first timer" groms that learned to drop in the bowl. All and all, another fun day at Vets!
