Brian Kelly, owner of Ride Skate Shop, was the driving force behind getting this skatepark built. Early in 2004, Brian
began contacting several surrounding areas (Hoover, Pelham, Irondale, Alabaster, etc) about building a public skate park.
Although Homewood and Vestavia both had parks, this would be the first concrete skate park. Alabaster approved and planned
to open in Apil of 2005. That got pushed back to July 2005. July came to pass and the project got pushed to August of 2005.
Finally in October, construction began on the new skate park. |
