During the last half of 2006 through the first half of 2007, Ride Skateboards hosted the Open RSA Contest Series at the Veterans Skate Park in Alabaster.
Contestants accumulated points by placing in the top of their divisions during the seven contest series. The culmination of the series was the "invite only"
championship contest. Once again, Brian and crew put on a great event. Due to the heat, the contest was moved from 3pm to 6pm. Even with sweltering, record heat,
the championship had the best turnout for the entire series. As always, Pat Wachter was working the grill and giving out free hot dogs, burgers and cold drinks. Friends,
family, parents, etc. all showed their support, cheered on the skaters and stayed well into the night for the awards presentation. Around 9pm, the contest was over and
the first RSA series came to an end. The next series promises to be even bigger and better with contests being held at skate parks around the Southeast.
BIG BIG BIG thanks to BACON SKATEBOARDS for stepping up and sponsoring the championship. Of all the companies that promised to send goods for prizes
and giveaways, only BACON stood up and delivered! BACON supports Alabama skateboarding....remember that when you go to buy your next deck...support those that support
us!!! |

BOYS SPONSORED (Ages 13 and Under) |
Big BIG disappointment here....the top skaters from all year did not attend the championship. Chris Coffman from Atlanta was a no show.
Alec Spinosi recently broke his arm. Alex Salillas was grounded. A lot of people thought this would be the division to watch too! Had any one of them
shown up, they would have easily grabbed the top place, the big trophy and lots of prizes. |
