Wednesday September 5, 2007 - Alabaster Old School Session night |
Great to be at the home park again! This session was iffy at best due to a gas tanker spill behind the park in the construction area of new homes as well
as some geniuses cutting the phone lines and some electrical as well as the pump for the bowl in trying to clean up the spill. Luckily, Brian was able to
get the park opened at least for this night (it had been closed most all week for repairs). I guess since some people didn't know if the park was open or not,
less showed up than expected. However, for the ones that did show up, we had an awesome session! Everyone was feeding off of each other's energy. Mark Eddings turned
up the heat when he did frontside roll-ins into the bowl and made it on his first try!!! He hadn't done those in about 15 years! Danny caught the stoke and started trying
his layback inverts and getting closer than ever. John Waight, who showed up later due to traffic, was trying frontside and backside airs. I kept trying to re-learn
frontside smithgrinds but was no where near as close as last time....just not feeling them......feeling them even less after I took a real hard slam....basically, I went
into a frontside 50-50 that flipped up on coping sending me backwards upside down right onto my hip, elbow and wrist....ouch! It was good to see Brian Kelly skating when
he could take breaks from watching the shop. Brad Lovell and Tim Spinosi made it to the session later....better late than never though! Around 9pm, we all had enough. It was
closing time anyways. I was just happy to get to skate there at all after the park seemed like it might be closed for a while. Big thanks to Brian Kelly! |
