| Another weekend, another road trip. This time, we ventured up to Cullman to skate Jason Green's ramp...home of the Westside Pirates
and Green Skateboards! The day was gray but not too cold. We left Birmingham after meeting up downtown and made the short drive. After getting
a little lost on our way to find lunch first and then getting lost again finding the ramp, we finally made it around 1:30pm and got to skating.
We did get to see some people walking their cow while driving out in the country after lunch! Also, we saw a houndstooth Smart car. So there
was some bit of entertainment in all our driving around. The session was fun. Sadly, Jason Green could not skate due to recent shoulder surgery, but
he did hang out with us and showed us the Westside Pirate hospitality (awesome!). A couple of locals joined us as well. Towards the end of the day
around 4pm, I guess old age started catching up with us all because the falls started coming more frequently. Solomon's day ended with a missed
ollie-to-tail that slammed his shin into coping and split it open. Birdwell followed shortly after with a 360 rock that went wrong resulting in a hurt
wrist. Jay was slipping and sliding out. The signs were all there....time to call it a day. Around 4:30, we said our good-byes to the Westide Pirates
and made the drive home. Good day. |
